Playing Catch Up

Okay, it's been a while since I have posted an update so I am combining all of our recent happenings in one super-post. It covers our trip to the Iowa State Fair, the Science Center, the Splash Pad, the Zoo and a few pictures from around the house. I have a couple of other updates to get done (including Mike's recent time spent with an MTV camera crew and an ahem*LATE*ahem posting on Molly's 12 month stats), but this is a good start. Enjoy!

Overall we had a great time at the fair. Molly was a little young to get much out of it, but we went early in the morning so it wasn't very crowded and it wasn't too hot. She liked seeing the animals and my favorite part by far was our ride on the Sky Glider. Mike just about had a heart attack as he is afraid of heights and was convinced she would fall out, but she loved it. We rode over the crowds and she waved at everyone on the ground. It was a fun and special bonding time where she was forced to cuddle with me for at least 20 minutes!




Science Center of Iowa

So the Science Center was kind of a let down. It was expensive to get into and Molly was really too young to enjoy it. They have a toddler room that I thought she would like, but she needs to be a little bit older (and taller). Oh well, it was a fun family day.


Around the House

Even though he doesn't make appearances on the blog very often anymore, Harvey is still a very important member of the family. Here he is just lounging in a rather odd position on the couch.

The Blank Park Zoo

The zoo was a fun family outing on a Saturday morning, but again Molly might be a little young to really enjoy it. It was better than the Science Center because she liked the train and it was fun to be outside but probably will be more fun next summer.

Favorite birthday present

We got Molly a water table for her birthday. She really likes it!

Her diaper filled up with water and we had to take it off. The last few minutes playing were spent in her birthday suit.

Birthday night

After the Splash Pad on Friday Molly took a spin in her new big girl car seat. We went out to dinner with Gammy and Lumpy and then home to open a few presents. It was a nice quiet day and we enjoyed celebrating our favorite One Year Old.

She loves her new seat. She totally sprawls out and loved waving to every car we pass.

The Party

We had a great time at Molly's 1st Birthday party. We were thankful for the friends and family that were able to come and missed those who weren't. Molly loved all of the attention from everyone and got lots of fun gifts. She wasn't interested in the giant cupcake, but liked being in her high chair with everyone looking at her. Here are some pictures.

I had fun making this banner and decorating her cake table.

I mounted pictures from each month of her life on tiles and had people try to put them in order as a party game. It was fun and no one was able to get it 100%, not even Daddy! All of the guests made a bag of candy to take home as a party favor.

Checking out the candles, I had to blow them out before it got to her because she has very curious little hands!

She mostly just liked looking at it.

Time for presents, she had changed out of her sticky clothes by this point and decided to keep things a little more casual.

She was much more interested in ripping the paper, next time people can just wrap empty boxes!

So Far...A GREAT Birthday

Today is Miss Molly's 1st Birthday. I'll do a much more detailed post later after her party, but just wanted to show you that so far she is having a great day!
